Pumpkin Madness!!!

Good afternoon everyone.  We in 1A had an amazing time to describe what the inside of a pumpkin feels like.  Not only did we brainstorm all sorts of adjectives (gooey, slimy, gross, yucky, wet, disgusting, gunky, sloppy, gushy, spongy, sticky, goopy, chunky, stringy, and cold), we got to dig out our very own pumpkins for each table group.  They designed their pumpkins before hand as a team and then had the opportunity to clean out the inside.  They had an amazing time.

I absolutely love seeing children engaged in hands on activities where they can see and feel different things.

These are their final designs and they will see them lit up around the classroom on Halloween morning.  Well done 1A!!!!

Middle of October

I can't believe we are already through Thanksgiving.  I hope everyone had a wonderful, relaxing Holiday. We are right back to it in class 1A.  The "Awesome Apples" were excited to be back and at it.

Moving forward, I will officially be with this class 100% of the time.  There will no longer be any transitioning back and forth between here and Mrs. Forsyth's room.  We are really excited that we can continue with our own routines and become a strong group together.

Just look at the space we have.  The crowded classroom is a thing of the past. To have this much space and a lower number of students will make for a very positive learning environment.

I really am looking forward to the rest of the year together and all the exciting moments shared.

First Day Jitters

Welcome everyone to Mr. Aasen's blog.  We have had a wonderful first few days in the new 1A classroom. The students jitters were washed away with the wonderful jitter juice.  The new setting is becoming increasingly comfortable as we are getting accustomed to some new routines and activities.  I am looking forward to this very exciting year together.
